Hello everyone. I've been a TI since 2008. Firstly, each one of us has unique experiences with our torture. No two of us are the same.
With that in mind, I would like to share some small mental tactics that have kept me from going completely insane over the years. When attacked, (through V2K), try not to get angry. An idiot is just trying to bait you. Take a deep breath, smile, and think of something pleasant.
It can be difficult, I know. Attacks can get very personal, and when they correspond to events in your life, its only natural and human to respond to your torturers angrily. Try not to.
Don't remember a pleasant personal memory. Think of a peaceful setting. A beautiful summer day at the beach. Standing at the foot of a waterfall, whatever thought or place brings you closest to being centered.
In your life, focus on yourself and those you care about around you. The torturers may effect many things around you. Try to remember what's important to you personally. While you do this, also try to forget yourself.
In other words, don't be who you are with your torturers. They tend to use yourself against yourself. If you're Christian, be a Buddhist to your torturers. Or not religious at all.
They look for any edge to pull on, anything they can exploit. I know it sounds horrible, pretending who you are inside. But in this way they can't hurt you as much. Be careful when doing this not to get swallowed up in forgetting yourself. Hide inside.
This can get difficult and effect concentration. Remember to stay focused. The world around you is what is important to remember. Give your torturers as little of your real self as humanly possible.
Be warned: this can infuriate your abusers as it does mine. Remember you are a human being and you do no harm. Targeters do harm. We are their victims.
Be proud of our shared humanity and be an example to other victims. We are non-violent, intelligent people from all walks of life, and we are vocally protesting the very real torture and abuse we suffer. We are not the abusers. Lets all try to take better care with our fellow humans in the world around us. I'll post regarding other small mental techniques later.
