3 men sue psychologists involved in their CIA torture - Lawsuit allowed to go ahead

This looks like a huge step forward, at least for torture cases in the US.

The article says that the ACLU is supporting 3 victims of CIA torture to sue the 2 psychologists involved in their torture. This is the 1st time such a case has been allowed to go forward. Yesterday the judge denied the torturers` appeal to dismiss. Excellent.

Let us hope this case succeeds. It could be the beginning of a way out for us!

Here `s the Guardian`s report on the case:

They had a VERY good lawyer. Interesting to see the arguments.

Fantastic news Sandy - thanks so much for posting, I absolutely believe our stories will be told, and as long as we have some evidence, we have a very good chance of getting them handicuffed into prison for a very long time.  I personally think this deserves the death penalty.

God`s Grace, it is fantastic news, and I do believe that it will in some way help us, especially if they win. Even if they don`t succeed this time, we can learn a lot from their case. Their lawyer was very clever in taking the civil court route, suing the psychologists, who were private businessmen, rather the CIA. So they had NAMED suspects which is an important start, and no-one could say"they don`t work for us/we don`t know who did this" or some such lie. Plus of course it avoided the need to involve the police.

Then if they can prove they have committed crimes, maybe the case can go up to a criminal case. That could prove more stuff. But I`m not from the USA, I don`t know how it would work.

As you said, we need some evidence, and it has to be court-standard. We have to prove a connection between the criminals and what happens to us. This torture equipment has been under development for over 40 years. We need a lawyer to sort out the right way forward.

I believe we will win, and perhaps soon!

Like you, I think we have a good chance of getting relevant criminals into prison for "a very long time".
