(Bio) Chemistry Nobel Prize winner-about the receptors and the coded genes.....

Regarding this year Nobelprize winner in Chemistry and their biochemisty studies (very simplified) on G-proteine connected receptors, how they work and look, and that more than 1000 of genes in a body is coded for such receptors, such as light, smell, adrenaline, dopamine, histamines etc, and that these could (according to articles about the NP winners work)be manipulated to cure diseases, it makes me wonder how its possible finding out this kind of heavy information about the body and its biology whitout doing it on a (living?) human being? When considering the situation for a victim and that he/she is affected in all those senses, it makes me wondering even more. What is said also is that this could make a huge change in for instance medications against brain diseases, such as psycosis among others, as dopamine and partly also histamines are involved in these kind of diseases..and they could be manipulated, again, how is it possible finding this out without having a living human object ? (or should I say a living object with a simulated disease.) Could it be possible finding this out on a rat? Could it be possible finding out on a real mentally ill person, and if so, how do they get the approval from the object, is it even needed? Or is the purpose making the object (ill or not ill) seem delusional, having them unvillingly going through experimentations without any conscent really needed-who would believe them anyway? /Annie

jung kim, I agree, indeed its great achivements and its great finding these things out to cure diseases and help people, but not unconscently on humans with or without their knowledge, of course not all scientists are using these methods, and maybe not this certain example at all. Probably just a covered minority. Then when thinking about it, these hardworking scientists, not aware of these illegal methods, is doing the work that are already finished-mission already accomplished... I find it also terrible, when having this knowledge (what they are able to do on us, our bodies and brains) and not really use it in a good purposes on people that are in need of it and what improvements they could have in life, disable-able to move their bodies again, death-hearing, blind able to see perfectly etc, etc.(not talking about doing surgery, putting new lences in the eyes here) But how could they, then they would have to reveal where the knowledge came from... I doubt people in general would belive it all came from labrats results, when realizing the potential. It seem however, that is the strategy used when publishing improvements in science in this area. From what I have read, the g-protein is involved in many meds already, but this new knowledge is about "fine-tuning" it in someway, I have no knowledge about this, more than what I found out from the article that I read. best rgds/Annie

John Bertrand Gurdon work for Cambridge University , it was said he was very great scientist ,he love work and often do lab by self ,he use the frog to creation the new theory.one of his student has said his lifestyle very simply , keeping a low profile and drive old car often . i very respect Mr.John Bwrteand Gurdon ,for he bring the human peaceful science and improve theory about how to cure the disease .hope one day all victime and human got peaceful life and much better than before ./ xixi
