FOIE GRAS IS EXTREME CRUELTY TO DUCKS AND GEESE SO PLEASE HAVE IT BANNED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD TODAY. FOIE GRAS GEESE AND PSYCHIATRIC PATIENTS ARE TREATED IN THE SAME CRUEL MANNER AS FOLLOWS:-
According to French law, foie gras is defined as the liver of a duck or goose fattened by gavage (force feeding).
In July 2014, India banned the import of foie gras making it the first and only country in the world to do so, causing dismay among some of the nation's chefs. The managing director of the Humane Society International of India said "This is a triumph for animal welfare in India as well as across the globe, and sets a precedent for other countries to follow".
I obtained the following information from the well known animal charity known as peta which I found at the following online link https://www.peta.org/features/what-is-foie-gras/
"How Do Animals Suffer?
To make foie gras, workers ram pipes down the throats of geese and male ducks multiple times each day, pumping pounds of grain and fat into their stomachs in a process known as “gavage.” This causes the birds’ livers to swell to up to 10 times their normal size. Many have difficulty standing because their abdomens become distended, and they may tear out their own feathers or attack each other out of stress.
The birds are kept in crowded pens. Unable to bathe or groom themselves, they become coated with excrement. Common health problems include damage to the esophagus, fungal infections, diarrhea, impaired liver function, heat stress, lesions, and fractures of the sternum. Some ducks die of aspiration pneumonia, which can develop after grain is forced into their lungs or after they choke on their own vomit.
Since foie gras is made from the livers of only male ducks, most female ducklings—40 million of them each year in France alone—are considered useless to the industry and are simply tossed into grinders while they’re still alive so that their bodies can be processed into fertilizer or cat food."
I myself have heard that geese who are being force fed in the above described manner sometimes commit suicide by hitting their heads against walls because they can not bear the effects of the treatment they receive. In the same manner, psychiatric patients some times commit suicide because they are force fed or force injected with poisonous substances that generate such extreme side effects in them that they choose to kill themselves rather than continue living while being forced to ingest or have injected into them such poisons. Therefore there is not much difference between psychiatric patients and foie gras ducks and geese from a legal and moral perspective.
