Signs that you're an empathetic person:
- Warm & easy-going by nature
- Willing to absorb blame in order to maintain peace
- Averse to conflict
- Frequently listening to other peoples' problems
- Idealistic, creative, and romantic
- Strong love of animals
- Need quiet time to recharge
- Seeks out truth & justice
- Dislike of arrogance, narcissism, and hypocrisy
Because of that last item, psychopaths learn to transform their personalities in order to appear humble & sweet. Once the target is hooked, that's when their true colors begin to show. Onlookers often ask "why are you attracted to jerks", but empathetic people are not attracted to jerks at all. They are tricked into these dynamics through love-bombing and personality mirroring.
If your empathetic traits were exploited by a manipulative person, that doesn't make them weaknesses. They are great strengths, and that's why a toxic person tried to take them away from you. But try as they might, a person's core soul cannot ever truly be destroyed. This is what psychopaths fail to understand, time and time again.
