Clips from Sins of the Father -- film about the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing on September 15th, 1963Four Black girls died, Addie Mae Collins (age 14), Denise McNair (11), Carole Robertson (14) and Cynthia Wesley (14), and 22 others were injured. At least five white men, members of the KKK, planted the bomb: Bobby Frank Cherry, Thomas Blanton, Herman Frank Cash, Robert Chambliss and Troy Ingram.On May 13th, 1965, the FBI had sufficient evidence that the five men planted the bomb by the Church, but FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover dismissed the evidence and officially closed the case with nobody being arrested for the bombing.- "Dynamite Bob" Chambliss was convicted for the murder in 1977 and sentenced to live in prison. He died in 1985- Bobby Frank Cherry was convicted in 2000 and sentenced to life in prison. He died in 2004.- Thomas Blanton was convicted in 2000 and sentenced to life in prison.- The other two men got off scot-free.Category: EducationTags:
