1 Thessalonians 5:2-4 (NIV) for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
Malachi 3:1 (NIV) "See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come," says the LORD Almighty.

2. Jesus came like a thief
Matthew 24:43-44 (NIV) "But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
Luke 12:39-40 (NIV) "But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."

Revelation 16:15 (NIV) "Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed."
Jesus came like a thief to teach his messenger or some people chosen by him how to do, he only came to few people.
God chose his soldiers on the earth, God fought Satan’s followers through men.
In my personal experience, Jesus Christ came to me on 2002, and chose me to be his messenger; and Jesus went back to heaven with his angels on 2009.
While God’s messenger working to prepare the way before his suddenly coming to his temple; and God’s soldiers working to fight against Satan’s followers; Jesus and his angels are in the Heaven and are preparing the future war against Satan on the earth.
3. Jesus will come on the clouds of heaven, every eye will see him
Isaiah 29:5-6 (NIV) But your many enemies will become like fine dust, the ruthless hordes like blown chaff. Suddenly, in an instant, 6 the LORD Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.
Matthew 24:30 "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
Matthew 26:64 "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the
There is a Biblical principle that only recently has been noticed by students of prophecy. It is founded on Daniel 12, verses 4 and 8-10. This principle says, in essence, that the Prophecies of the Second Coming will not be able to be understood until they are about to be fulfilled. In Daniel 12:4, Daniel was told to "...shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end...". This idea is reinforced in verses 8-10. Herein is an important thing to remember: When the Prophets wrote down what they were told, and saw in visions, they themselves frequently did not understand what they were writing. It is only when the Prophecies are fulfilled, or about to be fulfilled, that they can be understood. What the angel said to Daniel in verse 9 & 10 was actually a mild rebuke; "Go your way, Daniel (He might as well have said "Mind your own business, Daniel".) for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end...none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand". Understand what? The Prophecies! When the time comes for them to be fulfilled.
The idea that the Prophecies will be understood when they are about to be fulfilled is consistent with Amos 3:7, which says, "Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the Prophets".
