Shark navigator NV360 has been one of the top-rated vacuum cleaners on the market for its high-quality and advanced features. One of the best and most important features of this blue shark vacuum is the filter system, including the HEPA filter, which helps capture and trap 99.9% allergens and dirt according to the manufacturer.

Over time, these filters need to be replaced as a dirty vacuum with clogged filters can become less efficient and has a shorter lifespan. If you don’t know how to replace the filters, check out our article to properly do it without breaking your upright vacuum cleaner

The filter system of Shark NV360

The Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV360 comes with a filter system that includes pre-motor and post-motor filters.

The pre-motor filters are made of foam and felt, which are placed below the dust cup to protect the motor from dirt and debris. These foam and felt filters are completely washable and reusable.

On the other hand, the post-motor filter is the HEPA filter, one of the features that help Sharkninja gain the reputation for effective vacuum cleaners. The HEPA filter comes with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal to help capture and trap almost every dust and allergen, even the smallest particles. Besides, they also trap all the dirt inside, avoiding them escaping back into the air. Hence, keeping your home clean and clear.

How to clean and replace the Shark NV360 filters?

Pre-motor filters

As the pre-motor filters of the Shark NV360 are all reusable and washable, you can easily clean them with some simple steps.

  • Turn off and unplug your Shark NV360.
  • Remove the foam and felt filters below the dust cup.
  • Then, tap them to get rid of big sized dust and excess particles sticking on the filter. Remember to do this over a trash bin so it won’t scatter all over the floors.
  • Rinse the filters under lukewarm water to get rid of all the dirt. Remember just to soak it in the water and gently rinse it. Don’t overwash it or rub it too hard as they are easily damaged.
  • Continue to clean the filter under running water until all the dirt is completely removed and the filter becomes clear.
  • Let the filters air dry completely before reinstalling to the vacuum.

Ideally, the filters should be cleaned regularly every 3 months. However, it is highly advisable from Shark and many experts to replace these filters after a few years although they can be reusable.

HEPA filter

Similar to pre-motor filters, the HEPA filter is also washable. Hence, you can still follow the steps mentioned above to clean it from time to time. That said, keep in mind that the HEPA filter takes longer to dry, compared to the other filters. Hence, make sure they are dry completely before use to avoid molds and bacteria building up inside the device.

In a normal household setting, the HEPA filter can last up to three years without requiring replacement. Depending on how frequently you use the vacuum, you might change it sooner than that to keep the suction power at its best capacity.
