On behalf of the Honourable Rob Nicholson, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, I acknowledge receipt of your further correspondence of January 15, 2010, concerning your personal situation. As the circumstances of your case appear not to have changed, I can only reiterate that, as Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Minister Nicholson is mandated to provide legal advice only to the federal government, and therefore, cannot intervene in your case. Furthermore, the issues you describe in your letter are provincial matters. As you know, Minister Nicholson is unable to investigate or launch an inquiry into matters that fall outside his jurisdiction. Federal commissions of inquiry are governed by the Inquiries Act (see www://laws.justice.gc.ca). I understand from your correspondence that you have contacted the provincial offices suggested to you in the previous correspondence that you received from this office, which are the appropriate authorities to address your concerns.If you believe that a criminal offence has been committed, you may wish to bring the matter to the attention of your local police; it will be for them to determine whether charges should be laid. You may also wish to seek the advice of a lawyer in private practice to determine the course of action that will best serve your needs. While I wish you well in resolving your concerns, I must advise you that this office can be of no further assistance to you in this regard.
