Stephen Stetson of Alabama Arise, a coalition of religious, community and civic groups that promote state policies to improve the lives of low-income people, lectures on debate, poverty and evidence. This lecture explains what a qualification is and how this evidence gets deployed in often unquestioned ways. It addresses what sources are available and the strengths and weaknesses of these sources. In this topic, Stetson is a giant among giants because of his specific intersection between debate and progressive legislative reform, which he lobbies for and educates about every single day. Stetson was a very successful first-round NDT debater for the University of Texas, reaching the Quarterfinals his senior year, and always bringing an eye for quality evidence to the table.
